Arianna and I learned about the days of the week. Sunday is the first day and Saturday is the last. We also made an Easter countdown. She is excited that Easter is only 20 days away!
Arianna and I played games on reading eggs. She really is doing so good in Reading Eggs. She is learning new words every day! We read "I know an old lady who swallowed a clover" and then she created her own version. In her version the old lady swallowed items that formed a toy store in a city!
Gracyn and I reviewed her spelling words. She wrote them each one time. Today her sentence to complete was "I like to make" she wrote "I like to make cookies." We read "I like to read" a level d reader. First we did a book walk and reviewed challenging words. Then she read the story. She read beautifully. We reviewed the story using higher order thinking questions. In science we continued to explore classification of animals. Today we learned all about birds. Birds hatch from eggs, have ear holes, feathers, wings, and they are warm-blooded like us! We looked up pictures of different of birds.
Arianna is learning all about the calendar today! We started the lesson off with watching a music video about the 12 months of the year. Then we went back to the room and talked about which months are in the various seasons. We pointed out March, our current month and July, Arianna's birthday month. We played some math games on the computer and checked on our plants with Gracyn. They are getting bigger and bigger!
Today Gracyn and I explored her new spelling words. Gracyn wrote them each one time. Then she completed the sentence "I am happy when..." She wrote "I am happy when my mom snuggles with me." We went to the computer lab and spent some time in reading eggs. In Science we are learning about animal classification. At the end of our unit Gracyn will select one animal to research and write about. Today we learned about mammals. We learned that mammals have hair or fur, birth live babies, have a backbone, and are warm blooded. We researched various mammals on the computer. She was very excited to learn that she is also a mammal! In reading we read "Polly Gets Out" a level D reader from Raz Kids. We began by first doing a picture walk. It looked like the parrot escaped from its house and has an adventure. We also did a word walk. Then Gracyn read the story. She did amazingly! She read fluently with expression. I asked high order questions and she answered them all with very creative responses.

Arianna took her math test today. I was so very proud of her! She got every question correct, including time! We did also some games on the computer on www.abcya.com and PBS Kids.
