2) Body Image Writing Assignment: By this point in our reading, we are very familiar with Oscar and his body/body image issues. What are some negative reactions that he receives from people as a result of being overweight? How does he respond? As the statistics for obesity reach staggering heights in America, how does body image affect men and women differently? Do you think that one more group has it worse than the other? How can an individual overcome these issues? How can Oscar Wao?

1) We know that Oscar is particularly preoccupied by Tolkien (Elves, Dwarves, etc.), Marvel Comics, and Dungeons and Dragons. With this in mind, write a 2 page short story written by "Oscar." How would Oscar manifest these interests in writing? Make sure that your version of Oscar's writing stays true to his tone and vibrant use of dialogue.
