Lesson Comments
Charlotte didn't appear to have a solid command over the words or their parts of speech. I tried to review them more with her before the quiz, but she was resistant, and insisted she knew them well enough. Throughout the entire quiz, she was asking me to give her hints for each and every word, insisting that this is the normal protocol for her and her teacher. I agreed to give her the hints, but she still was only able to muster definitions that looked somewhat like the actual ones. For example, she'd write "equivamiento" instead of "equivocado." I wanted to go over the quiz with her afterwards to help her learn from her mistakes, but she was very resistant to this and said she'd done fine. We had 15 minutes left and the assigned book was not in the room so I decided to improvise by analyzing a poem in the textbook. She was extremely resistant and kept answering calls on her phone, even after I objected. I worked very patiently and clearly through the poem, but she wasn't very motivated.

Lesson Comments
Charlotte walked in 12 minutes late, then spent a good 13 minutes on the phone and texting with friends. She stated it was important, so I let her take the first call and it seemed to consist of "friend stuff". This seriously curtailed the review session and she was distracted most of class, picking up little. I'm all for getting rid of cellphones in class if this is how it's going, but she will still he responsible for all material on the test.
