I went over the work that Ashley completed with the substitute from yesterday and made any corrections to the verbs necessary. Then Ashley worked on her posterboard about her childhood activities and she glued pictures and wrote captions for each of the activities that she used to like to do as a kid in the imperfect tense.

Devin was absent today. Ashley completed her project and did a nice job of reading in spanish. She needs to try to slow down at times and be more careful with her pronounciation of vowels and double ll.

discuss what to do when right at the end it "seems all wrong". Show students how to salvage what you've done without throwing it all out. We used Sadie's paper as the example as she was feeling lost. Show students how to pretend to be an outside reader of your own paper. WRite topic and main point of each paragraph in margin? Most issues can be resolved by strengthening intro paragraph and first sentence of each paragraph.

We continued--but did not complete--our review of Chapter 7 by taking turns solving problems at the white board. The understanding is good but the memories are so-so. We will complete this tomorrow and test on Thursday.
Introduced students to new vocabulary from this chapter which involves new adjectives for people's personality traits: travieso, amable, carinoso, antipatico, chismoso, chistoso, callado. Then students completed the first activity of the end of chapter review from pg. 234 - wrote sentences descriving what people were doing in the present tense and then in the imperfect.

Lesson Comments
Devin is playing the intro to Paralyzer very well. The main groove for the verse is giving him some trouble because of the upbeat hi-hat accents. This is just a coordination issue that will be resolved with time and practice. He played the hi-hat accent exercises from Realistic Rock with control and precision. Once he gets the hang of a certain exercise, beat, etc., his playing has a great feel to it.
