Sixteenth note hi-hat ride patterns; Paralyzer intro, main groove and accented sixteenth note snare drum fill, and began charting a new song: Headstrong by Trapt.
Lesson Outline
Played through the last exercises in the sixteenth note hi-hat accent unit which will set us up for the 12 bar review exercise next week. Played through the beginning and verse of Paralyzer. Began writing a drum chart for the song Headstrong by Trapt. We are listening to the song and identifying tempo and rhythms and interpreting that into a standard notation drum chart.
Assignment
Listen to Headstrong and try to write out a few bars of the song - we will review and correct (if needed) on Monday.

Devin's playing was excellent as always. We are writing another chart for a different song, and this time, Devin will be taking the lead when it comes to interpreting and writing the rhythms.
Students finished up standardized testing for the first 20 minutes). Then we reviewed adverbs ending in -ly from pg. 254 in the book. Then we reviewed food vocabulary and gave each student a list of the words they need to review.

Lesson Outline
Worked on the sixteenth note hi-hat ride patterns with opens and closes on the accents. Played through the intro and first verse of Paralyzer up to the sixteenth note accented fill leading into the first chorus. We played this both solo and along to the recorded track.

Great session. Devin really played incredibly. He was able to play all of Paralyzer up to speed along with the recorded track. He still needs to get the fill at the end of the verse down, but he really played the rest very well.
