Sophia is thoroughly enjoying the outlining of the chapter we do together. The English is difficult, and it's thus been hard for her to comprehend it. I'm gradually weaning her off of team outlining, and having her do it independently and then confer with me. Eventually, she will have complete independence in her outlines as prep for tests. She remains resistant, however, to any and all assigning of homework I do, no matter how minimal. The questions assigned for tonight will take her no more then 20 minutes to complete, and she can rely completely on her outline and previous knowledge. Still, she complains, and sometimes adopts an "Oh, come on!!" sort of attitude that consistently remind her will not help her educational growth. Her writing has improved immensely though: her sentence structure and inclusion of details especially.
Sophia completed reading at least 4 chapters since our last class. She was ready to start right away and discussed her recognition of events later in the novel from the earlier foreshadowing. She is interested in the female limitations of the time period and we discussed the social progress in gender inequality.

Lesson Comments
Sophia was focused and energetic during class today. We will be working on her writing soon, and I offered to review her writing for other subjects as well.
Sophia hadn't done much reading. She was sick Friday and hadn't felt well enough to read during the weekend, so we picked up where we left off. We spent more time looking at the historical context and setting for comprehension of character development.
