Lesson Comments
Sophia is a keen student, always questioning and not taking anything as a given. We decided together, though, that it is more productive to do about 15-20 minutes in-class reading before we proceed to discussing. Otherwise, we are working a lot with the abstract and hypotheticals, lacking solid historical detail to back up our arguments. This was the main shortcoming in her in-class essay last week, so the suggestion was great. Looking forward to more lessons!

Lesson Comments
When presented with a language/literary/syntactical challenge, Sophia is equipped and ready to solve it. It is clear from her expression that she is "fitting together the pieces" in her mind. She nearly always emerges, relatively quickly, with a precise and concise articulation of what she's seeking to understand.

Sophia is not afraid of a challenge. She faces challenging work with an "I can do it" attitude. She successfully surmounts material she does not at first easily grasp by asking questions and inductive thinking.

Lesson Comments
Sophia was late to class and had only read 7 of the 11 assigned homework pages. She also had not started her assigned study guide. She was very attentive, though, and worked well. Her essay showed an understanding of the major events, although historical details were missing in her argument. We wil be working on this skill next week.
