We are working through simplifying radical expressions, focusing on square roots with perfect squares, as well as simplifying square roots without perfect squares. Introduction to simplifying square roots with variables.
We went through a few more elements on the periodic table identifying atomic number, atomic mass number, number of protons and electrons and the number of neutrons in the atom of each element. i introduced him to chemical compounds (H2O means there are 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom in water). This will lead to balancing chemical equations.
We started to read an article that compares economic systems. I want to provide Jackson with a foundation related to economics before he focuses on Capitalism and the Stock Market in particular. I want Jackson to finish the reading on his own and complete the short quiz at the end of the reading in preparation for our next session.

We read aloud together an article that compares economic systems. I want to provide an awareness of other economic systems that exist, prior to focusing on Capitalism and the Stock Market. Often, Jackson is not attentive, nor engaged via skype.
I worked with Jackson on several online games including The Sequence, Hexagonator, and several simulated surgical games. He played both of the first two games, The Sequence and Hexagonator for awhile, but he was most interested in the simulated surgical games wherein the student needs to locate and use certain surgical instruments in a timed 'surgery'.

Jackson was very attentive in spite of several technical difficulties in skyping. He was thoroughly absorbed in the simulated surgeries.
Jackson started watching the 1968 movie, Charly, which is based on Flowers for Algernon. Cliff Robertson won the Best Actor Academy for his role as Charly. We stopped after certain parts of the movie and discussed how it's different from the book.
Jackson watched a presentation that reviewed verbs and included practice exercises. He continued to practice, writing short sentences and identifying the subject and verb.
Today we went over the drawing done last class and reviewed all the parts of the head. Also, we sang a song and danced to the rhythm by pointing at the different parts of our body. In addition, we read on RazKids : Mi Cara.
Jackson does a wonderful job sketching out his key rack/ shelf that he made earlier in the school year. The last 20 minutes he watched a video, "ABC of Hand Tools". Excellent Skype session.

I am constantly reminding students to take notes on explanations as they don't remember concepts for future reference.
Skype remote class with Jackson had no problems with the camera but it was a total failure with the shared screen. I already suggested Kelli to try a different software to fix that issue. There are many options, GoToMeeting seems to be a free optimal option. It has a monthly fee depending on the requirements
Jackson completed an extended exercise that had him figure out the definition of words from the context of their sentences. Answers were either multiple choice or written definitions. With the last few minutes of class, Jackson watched interesting TED talks on abandoned malls and a group of kids who invented a way to recycle Styrofoam.
