I was able to share the contents of a dropbox folder/files that Jackson created for the Haiti project. However, Jackson was unable to edit the documents. I am hoping he can find a doc., pdf, or ppt. format on his computer that will allow him to finish the project.

First Skype session with Jackson today. I was able to send him a link that allowed him to open files in a dropbox folder. That was great. However, he was unable to edit/revise the documents. I provided him with directives that will allow him to continue/finish the assignment. I asked him to try and access the documents post Skype to see if he can open/edit the files. We also tried to find a file format on his laptop to copy and paste the documents. Apparently, he doesn't have Word (doc), Adobe (pdf), or Power Point (ppt) on his laptop. I gave him my email address and asked him to contact me if he is unable to open and edit the documents. I may have to switch the project to an oral presentation where he incorporates images, instead of a booklet (print) format. I am hoping he is not that limited related to software programs on his computer.
Jackson used his research notes to write a first draft of his research paper on the Kennedy assassination conspiracy. He completed the majority of the paper's body, including relevant quotes from his source material. Homework is to write a title for the paper and review his notes to make sure everything has been addressed.
As a follow up to Flowers for Algernon, Jackson watched a TEDx talk given by a Special Olympics athlete, discussing challenges people with intellectual disabilities face. We finished class with a review of the grammar Jackson has been studying since the beginning of school.
I started the lesson demonstrating the use of a t-chart to set up the values for a graph. Then I showed Jackson the values for the squared and cubed functions. This led to the graph of a parabola and I also showed him the negative, upside down parabola. I then showed him the formula for acceleration due to gravity and modeled the free fall of a rock pushed off of a cliff.

Although the material was a little advanced for Jackson, he seemed able to follow the basic ideas and was filling in some of the values for squared and cubed functions.
We started a discussion on atoms and their components; protons, neutrons, and electrons and their charge and mass. I introduced Bohr and his representation of the atom.
Jackson demonstrates proficiency in sketching horizontal, vertical, and slanted lines parallel to each other. He further combines all three to create three dimensional objects. Lastly Jackson sketches out a three dimensional cross with dimensions that he made earlier in the school year. Excellent Session.

Thanks to Kelli, our first skype session when very well. Thank you again Kelli.
Today we went over oral presentations of self and of others. Also, we learned how to say where people are from. We practiced with family members and famous people. In addition, we went over the history of Easter and watched a short animated clip of the movie Hop in Spanish, which talks about the Easter Bunny.
Jackson finished reading Flowers for Algernon. We talked about Charlie's rapid regression at the end as well as how, as he regressed, he was depressed and unhappy, often acting out. By the time Charlie reached the end, though, he was close to the same Charlie that had started the story.
