Jackson continued his research assignment. He cited visual aids that he found during our last session. Also, Jackson was able to find credible and relevant text information that can be applied to content requirements associated with the project. We also talked about the due date. Jackson will continue his research during our next session. He is very dedicated and has demonstrated a solid process regarding a step-by-step approach to complete the assignment from general information to more specific information.

Jackson continues to excel related to the process regarding the completion of his research assignment on Haiti. He demonstrates a logical and sequential approach.
Jackson worked on a study guide that included vocabulary and literary terms from the short story, "The Neckalce." He also answered reading comprehension and recall questions as well as questions that required him to reflect on the theme of the story.
Jackson read the short story, "The Necklace." We discussed the story's setting in late 19th century France, the protagonist of the story, and how the necklace of the story was a symbol of the idea that things are often not what they appear to be.
We reviewed the three elements of a short story--beginning, middle, and end. Next we "share-read" (swapping pages) the short story "The Mystery of the Old Mill." I had Jackson jot down key (important) words as we read. The story was one of a Sarah Mansfield mystery series, Sarah is twelve, her mom is a cop and her dad is a poet. After we finished reading, I had Jackson use the key words as prompts and tell me the story in his own words.
