Built roads with toy building materials - measured each road to determine which was longest, shortest-experimented to see which ramp incline made the cars go fastest. Individual work folders. Created math addition/subtraction stories with cars. Introduced plus,minus, and equal signs and how to write a math story as an equation. Individual work folders. Stephen/Oliver - reviewed initial sounds of c.o.g and read nonsense words. Reviewed geometric shapes - worksheet matching object to shape. Used plastic monkeys and frogs to create addition/subtraction problems - used number lines to represent each problem. Discussed the earth - reviewed what it is made of - are these man-made or natural? What happens to natural materials when we discard them? what about manmade materials - how can we help the planet by recycling and re-using materials?
