Lesson Outline
Today Maya participated in a shared read aloud, entitled The Cold Lady Who Swallowed Snow. This is a cumulative text. The group was able to compare and contrast to another book by the same author. They listened and made predictions, noted the rhyming words, and laughed at this humorous story. The students were successful in guessing that the woman was building a snowman. Afterwards, they created their own snowman craft utilizing their fine motor skills to carefully place beans onto their ornament. Later today, Maya joined her peers to watch Rudolph, the movie, while the teachers had a staff development meeting.

Lesson Outline
Today Maya continued to practice her 7X tables and took a practice drill. She answered 25 questions in 2 minutes and 39 seconds. Then she learned in Topic 6, to multiple three numbers. She practiced solving several problems independently and was successful. Maya knows that the order in which she decides to multiply does not matter, as per the commutative property. Maya also practiced multiplying with 11 and 12 as factors. She will practice this skill further tomorrow. Maya completed only one module in FF, because she was engaged in a group activity where she was able to complete tree ornaments with her peers.

Today Maya practiced her 7X tables and completed a practice drill. She wrote down the 8X tables to find a pattern and understood that she could use the 4X tables to solve 8X tables problems. She practiced using 8 as a factor. During her the last 15 minutes of her math class, Maya participated in a read aloud of Rudolph. She was a great participant and was confident in answering comprehension questions. She made a great text to text connection- connecting the story of Rudolph to The Ugly Duckling. Great job, Maya! Maya continued in her FF program and came close to her high scores. In LB, Maya completed the activity in her workbook about a falcon. She reviewed the vocabulary and was successful in determining a word and picture summary. She also drew pictures to represent captions in the story. Great day!
