Fables
Lesson Outline
Maya is really enjoying genre study. She was very eager to get started today. I finished reading The City Mouse and The Country Mouse aloud. This was a well written fable that led to a lot of discussion. Then Maya read "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" and found the moral of the story. After that she read "The City Mouse and the Country Mouse". She determined that her version of the fable had the same moral as the version I read:) We did however, talk about the differences in the story. Maya was very successful at comparing and contrasting the two stories. Next, we took photos of all of the fables we have read so far to hang on her wall.

Math/Fast ForWord/Lindamood-Bell
Lesson Outline
Today Maya took a 2-6X times quiz and scored a 100%. This took her more time than usual. She tends to get a bit more unsure of herself when she is taking a test or quiz, so I believe that may be the reason. In her lesson she reviewed translations, rotations, and reflections of shapes. Maya learned in lesson 11-2 that figures can be symmetric. She is able to express that when a figure can be divided by at least one line into two congruent parts where the two parts are mirror images of one another they are symmetric. Maya learned new vocabulary -line of symmetry and symmetric figure. She had practice classifying shapes, pictures, and letters that are symmetric and non-symmetric on a computer game. During snack time she participated in a read aloud, which was a rhyming book about dinosaurs. Maya continued in her FF program. She did well and came close to her high score in Fish Frenzy.
