Together we examined both equations and sets of data and explored their graphs, both manually and with the graphing calculator. Ashley worked a problem where the data included a comparison of life expectancy in the US with the year of birth with minimal coaching. We had a data entry error that skewed the results when she attempted a quadratic regression--this was an excellent learning opportunity and we took advantage of it.

Two sessions of pre-calculus in a day is a challenge, but Ashley is up to it. She works hard. We accomplished a lot today.
We discussed linear equations, concentrating on the slope-intercept form with which Ashley is familiar. We discussed slope as a ratio and as a rate of change. We graphed several linear equations, including one with a slope of zero and one with an undefined slope. We then discussed, with examples, pairs of parallel and perpendicular lines and their slopes. We finished with problems from the text.

Great lesson. Ashley is outstanding in her participation, questions, and understandings.
We discussed the difference between functions and relations with numerical and visual examples. We explored the greatest integer function, both manually and on the calculator. Then we discussed symmetry of graphs with respect to the x- and y-axes as well as the origin.
