Lesson Outline
Macy was introduced to the following:
Musical Alphabet - A B C D E F G;
Pattern of the black keys on the piano, in order to find the proper placement of the keys;
A game "Pizza Delivery" was used in order to review her skill level (Excellent);
The Grand Staff - the layout, what each symbol means;
Fingering - The thumb is one, review exercise;
Reading a piece of very simple music answering the question "Where do I put my hands?"
Which hand goes first?
Which finger plays the first note?
What is the name of the first note? Only one was introduced today - Line in the middle is
Middle C;
FINALLY: Deliver the Pizza.

Macy played the first two easy pieces. She improved as she repeated the little songs.

Macy will receive her own book by next week, if not sooner.

Would encourage that the family at least borrow a keyboard so that Macy can practice at home. If she is able to have one, please do not let her keep her book at school. I will provide one. Books are subject to being mislaid.

Overall, Macy saw the value of slowing down results in accuracy.
Assignment
When she receives her book she is to practice the first two easy pieces.

Danny sure likes the piano. We watched a great video that reviewed the black keys and the “C” keys. After that he learned the song.”Hot Cross Buns,” which uses 3 black keys. He played it well. He also practiced, “Mary had a Little Lamb.” He was a hard worker.

Introduction to the Piano and all its PARTS.
Lesson Outline
Jayne and I had a great time studying the PIANO and all of its special parts.
We talked about and played each note and counted them: TOTAL 88 Keys
The BLACK KEYS are the sharps and the flat notes: they sound like a Chinese Song.
(She made up her own tune and I made up some words to it and sang it to her)
We identified the LOW NOTES on the left side and the HIGH NOTES on the right side.
I talked about and played notes in different ways: IE: Stacatto; quick and sharp
Long sounds with the notes held down. We located MIDDLE "C" and established her beginning hand position with her THUMB on middle "C" .... and I had her play the 1st five consecutive notes going up and playing them back down. She will work on her hand coordination and get better with practice.
I showed her a FUN SONG she can play with only her right hand on ALL THE BLACK NOTES.
We talked about the 3 PEDALS below the bench on the piano and I played examples of what the sound was with and without the pedals. Overall I think she is going to do very well on Piano and her attention span was great.

Remember the special number 88!
