Brandon and I had a great session. We started playing the piano. Brandon showed me several songs he knew. We then worked on our five finger position and applied it to the 145 chords progressions. We ended looking at major and minor chords as well as playing chord progressions with both hands. Brandon is very musically inclined. I am excited to see him grow as a musician.
Today we worked on playing the 145 progression in the key of C and G. Richard was able to play the 1st, 4th, and 5th chord inversion with some guidance in two different keys.
Today we worked on chord progressions. We wrote out the notes on the piano then talked about how each chord has a direction it is harmonically pulling. She quickly picked up the left and right hand patterns then continued playing the progressions after our session was finished.
We continued working with the metronome on the piano. We talked about how rhythm likes to stay the same speed. We ended our session playing chess and talking about different approaches and defensive strategies.
Today we worked with a metronome to keep consistent time. We played three chord progressions and aimed to keep them at the same speed with both hands on the piano.
Today we worked on adding rhythm to the chords we learned in the last session. We ended learning how the 3rd note altered creates minor chords on the piano.
Today we worked on playing chords using both hands. We went over the 5 finger position. We ended writing out a melody on sheet music that Richard composed.
Today we worked on memorizing where each note is on the piano. We used the number system for her to begin playing simple melodies. She told me she was left handed so we worked on developing the five finger position in her left hand.
