Reread chapter 12.4 and completed the notes for 12.2 and 12.3. The notes or 12.4 had not been posted yet by the teacher. Morgan is staying ahead with her History work.
We began our session with days 3 and 4 of the week 23 vocabulary packet. We discussed the words for this study, which are: pedagogue, enunciate, inordinate, irascible, introspective, perpetuate, mandate, compensatory, neutralize, and catastrophic. Morgan read two passages that utilized all of these words. After reading, she shared what she felt was the main idea of the passage. She then matched the definitions and words as well as completed fill-in-the-blank sentences examining the words in context. We worked to “check” her work by inserting the definition into the sentence to help deepen understanding and confirm the correct word was chosen. We also discussed the idioms of “get one’s back up” and “bring home the bacon”. Next, we reviewed adjectives with some practice examples. We went through tasks that identified words being modified, determined adjective vs. pronoun, examined proper adjectives, found prepositional phrases and labeled predicate adjectives (with the modified noun), and identified limiting and descriptive adjectives. Finally, Morgan began a creative writing project. Her school has connections with a famous YouTube influencer (Mr. Beast). The class has received promotional materials from him in the past such as beanies, t-shirts, and chocolate bars. They recently received a strange item in the box – a solid, disc-shaped item with four holes in it, weighing about 12 pounds. They have no idea what the item is. Morgan’s ELA teacher sent a photo of the item and the school is holding a creative writing activity to explore what the students think it might be! Morgan began writing her piece for participation in this fun adventure!
Morgan wrote her Bible Verse in her notebook.
Morgan read the assigned reading, Life by the Spirit.
We discussed the fruits of the spirit the Holy Spirit gives believers are important and how to grow them. (e.g.; prayer, read scripture, memorize verses ).
