Chapter 10 Summary and Review – We completed the review section where we practiced writing an equation of a line satisfying the given conditions using the slope-intercept form. Then we practiced writing an equation of a line that passes through a given point and is either parallel or perpendicular to the graph of a given equation. Next we practiced finding the midpoint of a line.
Assignment: Complete the Algebra 1 Review for Chapter 10 Quiz (Lessons 10-5 through 10-7)
ELA: Morgan began with a quiz on the poets her class recently studied. She scored an 89%. Next, she made a Quizlet to study all of her vocabulary words, parts of speech, and idioms for the week 24 word list. Finally, she practiced writing her 20 spelling words three times each. We read through the words and discussed proper pronunciation and some tricks for spelling. History: Today Morgan completed the section 14.1 section review involving information about Martin Luther and territorial churches in late 1500’s. Next, we read section 14.2 which covered Counter-Reformation and The Jesuits. We began working on the review questions.

In an effort to shorten Morgan’s day per the family’s request, I covered her history class. I have edited the time on this session. I was technically with Morgan for 120 minutes, but that will put her over for the day (with paying Pam). I'm capturing the other 30 minutes in my time I would have been with Sadee.
10-6 Parallel and Perpendicular Lines – We reviewed the fact that if 2 lines have the same slope they are parallel and if the slopes are inverse reciprocals then the lines are perpendicular. We went over the critical thinking problem from Thursday’s homework. We learned that you can get the equation of the line in between the two parallel lines by finding the midpoint between the y- intercepts. Then you have the y-intercept of the line in between them and the slope has to be the same since they are all parallel. Next we moved on to Lesson 10-7 Midpoint of a Line Segment. We learned how to find the coordinates of the midpoint of a line segment in the coordinate plane given the coordinates of the endpoints. Then we learned how to find the other end point when you know one end point and the midpoint of a line segment. All of the homework was completed. Now we are waiting for the review for the test on chapter 10.
We reviewed for a quiz on Lesson 9.2 Voices for Creation. This lesson centers on God creating the world “ex nihilo” or out of nothing. Since we know that matter cannot be created or destroyed then it would be impossible for the world to be created without divine intervention. We explored the possibility of chemical evolution but the chance of non-living atoms coming together at just the right time and in the right proportions to create macromolecules, DNA, and complex cell structures seems extremely unlikely. Next Morgan took a quiz and did extremely well. Then we reviewed the rest of the chapter for a Test on Chapter 9 Evolution versus Creation and Morgan took the test. She knows the material and I’m certain she did extremely well on this test.
