Andrew completed a prewriting activity. He used the prewriting activity to organize his ideas. He wrote a story about his grandfather being kidnapped. He published his story on www.storyboardthat.com. He created cells like in a comic book.

We finished: "Are You My Mother?" . We used chunking, finger to track print and expression with punctuation. We focused on reading words ONLY on the page. We studied spelling pattern /SN/ and /AY/ beginning a "Word Door." We shared reading, touching on vocabulary.

Dylan read Chapters 1-3 of Flat Stanley and discussed important lessons learned. Afterward, he responded in a journal with a visual and short response about the story.

We used writing to teach word parts (fireworks, grandma, etc. We played I spy to review letter sounds and blends. We used a sight word game. We also practiced stopping to think about what was read and if it "makes sense."

Review spelling patterns through writing and letter tiles, sight words, fluency, and letter sounds.

Andrew reviewed vocabulary words: prefixes, suffixes, root words, and meaning.

We are working on expression, and changing voice when there are quotation marks or exclamation marks. We started to write about her vacation and will finish on Wednesday.
