Raz Kids reading, vocabulary unit 9, spelling - changing y to i
Lesson Outline
Today Ethan began our session reading a story on Raz Kids and answering comprehension questions. When he was finished, he completed a section in his Sadlier Vocabulary book unit 9. Then we practiced the change y to i before adding an ending spelling rule.
Ethan and I watched videos of MLB players making great catches. We talked about how important the ready position is. Ready position and a good first step allows them to make the catch. We also watched pitchers throwing strike three pitches. We discussed pitch sequences and the best pitches to put the hitters away.
Ethan was introduced to customary measurement. He watched a brain pop video to help introduce the different types of customary measurement. Ethan practiced converting inches to feet and feet to inches on the projector. He looked up rides at LegoLand and converted the height requirements. He converted the inches to feet for each ride.
Ethan sketches two of his wooden projects with measurements that he made earlier in the school year. The last 20 minutes are used to view video of some manufactured products using woodworking tools. Great session.
