Ayden is doing very well and is always wanting to try something new. He is forming his chords quite well and is getting a nice tone when he plays. His rhythm is good and he is starting to form more difficult versions of the chords we are learning.
Ayden completed his test. He got a 100%. Ayden needed a lot of time to finish this test, but he did a great job.He continued his FF program. In Cosmic Reader, I continue to remind him not to guess, and to read through each answer to eliminate the incorrect answers. I think Ayden had a fun day today, celebrating and playing lots of fun games! I hope you all have a fun night!
Today we began by reviewing the difference between a territory and a state. Ayden learned that Florida became a territory in the United States decades before it was admitted to the union as a state. Despite having only territorial status, Florida set up a government in Tallahassee, which, of course, remained the capital after statehood was achieved in 1845. An image of a so-called cracker house was discussed, especially its wood frame walls, metal roof, and rustic setting. Florida's role as a Confederate state in the Civil War was also discussed, including the fact that, even though the North won and the South lost the war, Confederate soldiers successfully defended Tallahassee against Northern attack. The words "territory" and "government" were defined. I gave Ayden another copy of his Florida project assignments, circled the next assignment (due 11/7/13) in green, discussed it with him, and saw him place the paper in his binder. A good day for Ayden--lots of smiles.

I saw Mrs. Dgani after class and asked her if all was well with Social Studies. She replied in the affirmative.
Ayden took Topic 5 test today, but did not finish. I read him each problem aloud. He will finish either tomorrow or Friday depending on the Halloween excitement. I want him to be at his best. In Fast ForWord, Ayden completed all of his activities. Bear Bags may show to be undone, but we lost internet connection. We used some time also to try to complete his math test. Looking forward to tomorrow's fun Halloween activities.
Ayden received his spelling and vocabulary words for next week. We read his vocabulary story online. He read a story starter and we discussed the possible endings to the story.
