We were practicing how to read the story about the planet, and he needs more practicing.
The class was 25 minutes long after snack.
Ayden played two different brain games. The first game he played was Book Monkeys. This game helps to strengthen reading comprehension. He read short passages and had to choose from 4 multiple choice answers. These passages have been read in the past, but it helps to improve his fluency and build confidence. In Hog Hat Zone he read passages that are excerpts from tales, poems, and stories and he had to choose from 4 different words, the word that would makes the most sense. He has to use semantics in order to choose which word fits best in the cloze passage. He is improving on using substitution as a strategy, rather than guessing.
Ayden did a review of 5x tables. Then he completed a timed drill with 50 problems. He answered them all correctly in 5 minutes. Then he reviewed content from topic 2 in order to prepare for his next test. He practiced problems using mental math. He used strategies such as counting on, compensation, and breaking apart. Ayden is also drawing bar diagrams as another strategy to solve problems. Ayden completed all of his homework correctly last night. Great work!! Have a nice trip this weekend.
