In math class today, Ayden took his Topic 2 Test and got a 100%! Great job, Ayden! Ayden completed his facts sheet homework, but did not complete his practice sheet. This independent work is extremely important as it reinforces what he has learned in class. Ayden completed a practice 3X table sheet. In Fast ForWord, he did not complete today's activities because we used some time to finish the test. He completed one activity only (Chicken Dog). Keep studying the 3X tables to commit them to memory.

Test included vocabulary: asteroid, axis, comet, constellations, crater, meteors, revolving, rotating, solar system, star.

Put all his vocabulary words on Quizlet. Started reading the story Seven Spools of Thread.

Warmup and stretch, Isometric Kicks, Review of Block and put it all together

Introduction to subject/predicate - Practiced identifying both in a sentence.

Put v-e syllable type in his notebook. Worked on reading words with v-e and practiced vowel teams.

Read the article "Views of the Universe". Discuss vocabulary: asteroids, axis, comets, constellations, crater, meteors, revolving, rotating, stars. Finishing planet Saturn and Jupiter.

Ayden continued his Fast ForWord program today. He played Hog Zone, Scrap Cat, and Chicken Dog. These brain games help improve spelling, decoding and sensitivity to letter sound correspondes. Scrap Cat specifically address decoding, vocabulary, and concept knowledge. Ayden is learning the differences between nouns, adjectives, and prepositions. Great work, Ayden!

Today Ayden wrote his 3X tables two times for practice. We made flashcards which he will be studying at home nightly. He should bring this back and forth to school each day. We reviewed content learned in Topic 2. These skills include mental math, knowing key words that tell him which operations to use to solve a problem, estimating sums and differences of whole numbers, adding and subtracting whole numbers and subtracting across zeros. Ayden should complete his homework tonight for further review in order to demonstrate his knowledge and success on tomorrow's Topic 2 test. Please continue to study the 3X table flashcards.
