Lesson Comments
Teddy did not get the scanned assignment to complete for hw via email. However, he did complete 17 questions from a practice ACT section. He got all 17 correct. He implemented many of the strategies we have been working on. The work on triangles went well. Teddy did a little better today of making connections between angles on lines and/or triangles.

Lesson Comments
This was a skype session. Teddy did the geometry fundamentals portion of the HW (all correct), but did not do any of the simultaneous equations. He said he had difficulty doing them. I reviewed the steps to approaching the problems. As i said the first step of "stacking the equations on top of each other, Teddy let out an "Ohhh!", which indirectly informed me that he now remembered how to do them but had forgotten. We did three of them for practice. There are 5 more remaining for HW. When we went to review the Fred's Theorem problem he had to do for HW, that was not done either. He could not complete it on his own, so I reviewed Fred;s Theorem and we did the problem. Since he was still having difficulty with the concept of angles on a line add to 180 degrees, we completed 3 more practice problems working with angles. Then we concluded with 2 more practice problems utilizing Fred's Theorem. We did not get to cover Triangles or Circles as planned.

Lesson Comments
HW: Teddy answered geometry problem correct, but could not find worksheet with other hw problems. He answered all 3 simultaneous equations practice problems correctly. he needed some guidance on 2 of them. He completed practice problems about angles, straight lines, parallel lines, vertical angles, perpendicular angles, bisecting angles. He clearly lacks a solid geometric foundation. Hw is able to complete problems with guidance, but he struggles to see basic geometric connections (180 degrees in straight line, finding 3 angle in a triangle when you know 2 angles, vertical angles)

Lesson Comments
Teddy completed his hw but only got 3/5 correct. We reviewed the incorrect problems. Through his questions about the problems and my questions to him, I could tell Teddy now understood the problems. We did 5 factoring problems, which he answered all of them correctly. Then we did simultaneous equations. I explained what type of simultaneous equations will appear on the ACT and how to organize the equations on his paper. He definitely was not very comfortable or confident in solving these. I will get more practice problems from home for tomorrow's lesson. We concluded with an intro to geometry.

Lesson Comments
Teddy completed his HW with only 2 incorrect answers (mixed up factors and multiples). He was quick to understand both pita and plugging in. When we did our practice problems, he was able to identify keys for which way to solve a problem. We had a few extra minutes so we did some additional practice with simplifying exponents.

2. Teach rules for exponents; practice problems
3. Teach rules for square roots; practice problems

Lesson Comments
Teddy completed his HW with only 2 of the 20 problems incorrect. He occasionally mixed up how to simplify some of the exponential equations, and was less familiar with how to simplify radical expressions. However as we completed the practice problems he continued to correct his errors and improve.

I am very impressed and pleased with the effort Teddy has put into his test preparation so far. He has done everything I have asked of him, and has clearly improved in just a short time. We went through practice questions, and while he made a few mistakes, they were all reasonable mistakes. He's done a great job with learning the rules, and if he keeps up this effort, should be in great shape by September.
