Patrick did a great job today. He completed his daily protocol in FF. Patrick broke his high scores in Fish Frenzy and Ant Antics. In keyboarding he completed two modules from Lesson 3. In LB, Patrick continued to work on his writing piece. He typed a paragraph, trying his best to keep his eyes in his paper while typing. In computer, he played a game where he did a great job figuring out the best strategies to complete the various levels. Patrick also answered some HOT questions from his V/V book.
Reviewed rules for syllable division with closed syllables. Patrick needed a little more practice with spotting the welded sounds and blends within the words.
Patrick and I began working on a writing prompt. We talked through the prompt and made a prewriting list of ideas to refer to. Patrick used the prompt to form his topic sentence. I encouraged to use the words around him to help spell correctly. I gave Patrick a minimum of 4 sentences to complete. Miss Johanna took over as I attended Patrick's conference. Upon my return we choral read the next chapter of his chapter book.
Today Patrick completed an activity in his LB Visualizing and Verbalizing book. He is demonstrating improvement in his decoding skills. He was able to read the entire passage, independently. He answered all of the corresponding questions correctly, which showed his ability to competently visualize and comprehend the reading. Patrick is doing very well and making strides. I enjoy seeing him be proud of himself. Patrick also did very well in his FF program. He broke his high score in Bear Bags. In this game he must match the beginning sounds of a highlighted word to another with word with the same sound. For example, cheese would match with chess. He must choose the correct match amongst four different choices. Great work. He also played Dog Bones and Magic Bird. Great day!
Today Patrick did very well in his FF program. He beat his high score in Dog Bone. This is a program designed to help improve listening and reading comprehension. They dictate a story and ask questions to follow. Then Patrick is required to read it himself and answer the questions on his own. In keyboarding class, Patrick completed Level 3, module 2 with a 93% and after began typing the written piece he completed in his Lindamood-Bell class. He used great descriptive words, through support of an online thesaurus, in order to help him create an entertaining narrative piece. Great job today, Patrick!
We worked on finding patterns in graphs. Patrick picked up on this concept quickly. He was even abel to create a graph from a word problem and then use the pattern to solve the problem.
