Today we all went on a field trip where Patrick and all of the students had the opportunity to learn about the various types of sea turtles. We were fortunate to have a guide who was informative and answered many of student's thoughtful questions. As always, I was very proud of his behavior, and he was a great role model for all of his peers. We were able to see live turtles and read and hear about their rescue, injuries and recuperation. We were able to see the hospital where they receive the attention they need. Afterwards we had a great lunch at the Thirsty Turtle. It was a great day had by all!
Patrick and I worked on his addition and subtraction fluency. I was absolutely impressed with his rapid recall of doubles and make-10 facts!!! Patrick has made huge gains that he is retaining! We will continue with reviewing math this week and I will give him a test of everything we have covered thus far on Friday. I will send home a study guide Wednesday.

Patrick is doing wonderfully! Huge gains!!! Excellent retention over the break.
It was so great to see Patrick again!!! He was all smiles and ready to learn this morning. We began our session with a read aloud from Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Throughout the read aloud we made and confirmed predictions and inferences while identifying cause and effect relationships. After that Patrick read aloud Level E Please Stop Snoring without a hitch. Patrick was the most fluent I have heard him on the first read! He read and decoded successfully. I was impressed when he decoded and read "instruments" independently! Then Patrick was given an effect for which he had to determine a cause. He did an excellent job completing the cause and effect relationship using the signal words (so & because) correctly.

So impressed. Patrick's level of retention over the break is amazing!!! Best fluent cold read since I started with Patrick in January!
Patrick impressed me immensely today! He read three syllable words ranging with much difficulty and combined them to make words; requirement, etc. He re-wrote them on the line without viewing the individual syllables to know the spelling. Great job!
Today Patrick continued in his FF program. During our session Patrick played brain games. We had some technical issues where the program froze and did not save all of his work. He did a great job and worked on word endings. He was successful in matching words with the same endings. Way to go, Patrick! During LB Patrick spent time taking turns shooting baskets after listing words/adjectives from his structure word list. Have a great spring break,
Patrick and I accomplished a lot in our session today. We reviewed cause in effect and the signal words. I read from Diary of Wimpy Kid and Patrick successfully determined cause and effect relationships throughout. Then he read One Smart Pig. Patrick demonstrated great decoding skills, but struggled to read fluently. Repeated reading is very important for him in improving his fluency. He used his knowledge of "ouch words" to figure out ou words in the story:) After reading Patrick determined the main cause and effect relationship in the story. Lastly, we completed his Lacrosse project. Patrick had an excellent attitude while writing his definition of the sport:) He composed three complex sentences. He noticed when some words were spelled incorrectly and asked for help. I gave him the tools he needed to spell the words correctly on his own:)

Excellent attitude today! No problems with getting him to write!
Today Patrick and I started with a game of Yahtzee. He has absolutely mastered dice recognition!!! He also exceeded my expectations today with metal math fluency in doubles, column addition and adding tens:) During our game I told him that adding the same number more than once is multiplication and that really motivated him! Patrick is really doing great in math! Please continue to work with him over the break so he doesn't lose his fluency:)

Patrick has grown leaps and bounds in math. I hope he practices over the break!
Wow, Patrick worked tremendously hard today! He read words and divided them into syllables before writing them. He read closed sentences and used context clues to determine an appropriate fitting two syllable word. Finally, he read two individual syllables and covered the syllables to write it on the line put together. Hard worker, today!
Patrick worked on researching luxury cars for a flip book he is creating. He practiced his keyboarding skills, and we talked about proper posture and body alignment when keyboarding. He was able to distinguish between informational sites and advertising pop-ups. We also discussed fact and opinion as we searched for facts about the cars he selected.
