Patrick and I spent the majority of our time together making Valentines for his friends with his friends. I was impressed with Patrick's letter formation and penmanship. After that, I read a chapter of Flat Stanley, Flat Again. Patrick was very attentive and conversational about the character Emma. Lastly, Patrick and I worked on a writing project. He did not want to write, so he generated the ideas, formed and dictated the sentences and I wrote. Patrick will be doing all of the writing tomorrow!
Today Patrick engaged in an activity where he was able to verbalize an event. Patrick elicited details and I jotted down more notes. We took these notes and turned then into a writing piece. Patrick's goal is to create a piece that is descriptive. Patrick learned the meaning of a thesaurus and how to use one. He used it to make his writing more captivating. He did a great job. Patrick was able to create a title that will capture his readers interest. Great work!
Discuss:
What animals eat (plants, other animals, both).
Where animal find their shelter (desert, grassland, forest, pond, ocean).
How do animals stay safe(move, hide, change color, shape blends into roll). Use page B 56 as a performance assessment.
Today Patrick did very well in keyboarding class. He completed two modules, scoring an 80 and a 96. This program is extremely helpful, as it includes dictation and requires Patrick to type consecutive words with the same blends. In LB, Patrick and I engaged in conversation about special moments in time, where he used his structure words to provide details of the occasion. Patrick beat two of his high scores, again, in his FF program. He won in Polar Planet and Cosmic Reader. Way to go Patrick! Keep up the great work.
Today Patrick did an awesome job in his FF program. He broke his high scores in both Jumper Gym and Tomb Trek. In L-B, we revisited the seeds (writing ideas) that Patrick is able to visualize and verbalize. He verbalized details about one event. This activity will serve as another reinforcement to the concepts he has learned in L-B.
