We watched several videos that practiced numbers from one to twenty, then played some number games. We then reviewed members of the family - aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.
Today I introduced Patrick to using tally marks and organizing data into frequency tables. We made predictions about various candies and color frequencies. Patrick did a wonderful job using tallies to count candies and organize data. Then we did a few pages from Envision to apply the concept to other subjects. Patrick did awesome today. He was full of positive energy!!!
Patrick continued in his FF program. He put forth great effort, beating his highest score in Magic Bird. He advanced a level in Ant Antics. In LB Patrick independently read a new passage entitled, Wash Before You Eat. This was a passage about a skunk getting himself a treat. Patrick did very well when reading the new vocabulary words and understanding when they can be used in a cloze passage. Patrick used each structure word to express the meaning of the passage. He had to cite at least three examples for each structure word. Afterwards, Patrick answered questions based on his ability to picture the passage. Super job, Patrick!
Patrick worked on typing up his writing piece. It is fairly lengthy. He needed some coaching to work steadily. In LB, we started to read a new book called Dinosaurs Before Dark. I read two chapters aloud to him, while he listened attentively. We paused intermittently to discuss some of the adjectives mentioned by the author which provide imaging for her readers. After each chapter Patrick was asked to express the gestalt. Up until now he has been providing the gestalt after reading short paragraphs and this was an entire chapter. It was a little more difficult for him. We will continue to work on this skill. Patrick did well in his FF program today, playing Leaping Lizards, Bear Bags, and Dog Bones. He advanced a level in one game and tied his high score in Bear Bags. Great work, Patrick!
