Emilia completed her calendar talk and calendar writing, assembled a circuit, read her sight words, finished her phonics activities, wrote a story, put together her daily sentence puzzle, and read, discussed and answered questions pertaining to a reading comprehension story.
Today's lesson addressed the plot and character development in the novel we have been reading. As we alternated reading, Ben commented at how interesting the story is becoming. When asked about his favorite character, Ben cited ‘Mr. Today,’ and offered his reasons why. He also commented that he appreciates the way the author combines words to combine two different animals into one to create a unique and unusual new one. The imagery in the novel is creative and holds great appeal to readers who appreciate the science fiction genre.
Today Will completed the following activities on Fast ForWord: Gator Jams, Lana's Lanes and Wood Works. In the activity Gator Jams, Will had to pick the correct word to complete an analogy. Will did a fantastic job choosing the correct synonym and antonym. In the activity Lana's Lanes, Will had to read a passage. He then had to complete graphic organizers and answer comprehension questions about the passage he had read. Will did a good job answering the passage comprehension questions. In Wood Works, Will had to listen to a word and determine if it contained the following spelling patterns “a, a_e, ai, ay ” or ”e, ea, ee, ie” and “o, o_e, oe, oa”. Will did a great job determining which words contained “a_e”. Great work today Will!

Will had the most success on this activity today! Will did a fantastic job determining the correct simple negation, complement to verb and commonly misused verbs. In the activity Quack Splash, Will began by reading a passage. Then he had to answer ordering questions about what he had just read. Will did well answering the sentence ordering questions.
