Will did a good job with fastforword today. In the spelling exercise, I really pushed him to slow down, and sound out each word phonetically. It definitely helped improve his score. He continues to do well combining sentences, and it seems to be getting much easier for him. With the left over time, I had him play typing games, focusing on the home row. We talked about why he needs to work on his typing and Will seemed to be cool with it.
Will had a lot of trouble with the parts of speech drills, and prefixes/suffixes. Before the break he was definitely improving, so it was probably more a matter of rust. He did a great job with the reading comprehension drills, and got most of the questions correct.
Will had a lot of trouble with the fill in the blank punctuation drill. He's forgotten a lot of what he learned before the break, but I'm confident it will come back to him with a little review. He did a great job combining sentences, but also had trouble with spelling. He got frustrated at times today as he's used to performing better.
Will did a great job today, but had trouble with the spelling. The sound the program makes when he gets one wrong, so he turns the volume down really low. Consequently, I'm not sure he's hearing the word very clearly. We'll adjust next time and see if it makes a difference.
Will did better with the combining ideas exercises, but had a lot of trouble with the fill-in-the-blank. He has difficulty using context clues to choose the right words.
Will had trouble focusing today. We got a late start so he could participate in the lighting of the tree, but he then had trouble getting into fast forward. He missed a lot of the combining ideas questions, which is unusual for him.
Will continues to have difficulty understanding tables, but did much better with spelling today. He's also improved a great deal when combining two ideas to form one sentence.
