Will did a very good job with Fast Forword today. He's finally starting to get the hang of how a suffix can change a verb to a noun. He got more of those today than usual.
Our session was cut short today for Aiden's presentation, but Will sat down and got focused very easily. He did very well on the sentence combination, and much better on the punctuation.
Will did very well today. It was the best I've seen him do on the parts of speech drill, I think he's finally starting to get the hang of it. He also improved on the drill in which he selects the proper word. I've been stressing slowing down in both our classes and I think it has really helped.
Today I was very pleased with Will's effort in the spelling exercise. He really slowed down and sounded out each word before trying to type it. It was a huge improvement from last week. He had a little trouble combining two ideas together, but not too much. He was much more focused today, and didn't get frustrated at all.
Will had a very tough time with fastforword today and actually got a little angry. The words and exercises are getting tougher, and rather than slowly working his way through them, he picks answers quickly, and then gets upset when he misses it. He repeatedly kept saying, "nobody taught me this", not realizing that's what I was trying to do. He has a lot of trouble with similar words, and with suffixes that turn verbs into nouns. We'll keep working on it.
Will had another good day of spelling. Once he learned to slow down and really sound the word out, he made fewer silly mistakes. For some reason, he had more trouble combining sentences than he usually does.
WIll did much better with the fill in the blank and reading comprehension exercises. He still sometimes doesn't read all the answers and jumps to conclusions, but we're working on that. My biggest concern is that he is still totally confuses about the different parts of speech. We've gone over this repeatedly in both language arts and fast forward, but for some reason, it's not sinking in. I'm going to come up with some new drills to help him.
