Will had a little trouble concentrating today. He started off with the order of ideas exercise (which always gives him trouble), got frustrated, and has a little off for the rest of the session. He got extremely frustrated whenever he missed an answer, and I think that definitely through off his concentration.
Will is doing much better with the picture description, but whenever it asks him questions about emotion/facial expressions, he has a little trouble. (I have to say, I almost don't blame him. Some of them are tough!) He also is still having trouble with the grammar in this section. He did very well in the analogy exercise, especially the weaker/stronger and location categories. He's continuing to struggle with the order of ideas, especially how to begin paragraphs/sentences.
Will had some trouble with the grammar form analogies, but did pretty well with the categories and synonyms. He's definitely improving with the picture descriptions, and his mistakes are usually based on a simple misinterpretation.
Will had a little trouble with the letters "lm", "mm", and "m", as well as "m", "kn", and "nn'. This was the first time he's worked on these letters, so I expect to him improve with practice. They program definitely threw him some curveballs. In the reading comprehension, he did much better with the diagrams than in the past. We slowly talked our way through each of them, which I think helps him.
Patrick continued in his FF program. He played Bear Bags, Leaping LIzards, and Dog Bones. He is showing improvement in his grammar in Leaping Lizards. He still needs some reminding to be careful with his capitalization in between sentences. Patrick does wonderfully in Bear Bags, matching beginning and ending sounds. In Dog Bones, I am quite impressed with his comprehension, as some of the passages can be challenging and require inferencing. In his LB class, he read Chapter 6, and thoroughly provided a summary and discussion of the events of the story, and mood of the characters. He is consistently referring to the structure words, as if by habit. Great work, Patrick!
Will did very well in the first part of the letter sounds exercise. He had no problems with "d", "dd", and "ed", but got bogged down when it switched to "m", "lm", and "mn". In the analogies sections, he did very well with the creator/creation analogies, and functions, but he had trouble with the grammar forms and cause & effect. He continues to have trouble with the reading comprehension, but it seems that is based more on the phrasing of the questions rather than the material. We'll keep working on it.
Will did great on the first part of the letter sounds exercise as it dealt with the basic consonants b, f, v, p. However, he had a little trouble with "r", "wr", and "rr", as he often got confused between them. In the picture description exercise, the program started adding images to the pictures he's been looking at the last couple of weeks. I was very pleased with how well he adapted, which in the past has taken a bit more time.
Will had a pretty solid day, but definitely had some trouble with the letter sounds and reading comprehension. In the letter sound exercises, he had a lot of trouble with the "e" sound when it was part of the the prefix "pre". He also has a lot of trouble with "y" when it is in the middle of the word. In reading comprehension, he had trouble wight he diagrams again. Some days they make sense to him and others they don't. He had little to no issues with the analogy exercise. He did especially well with functions.
Will had a pretty solid day with fastforword. He did very well in the analogy section and especially well with the function and location questions. He did better today with the picture description, but still had a few grammatical mistakes and missed some small detail questions. He continued to have trouble with the reading comprehension and order of idea questions, but has improved since we started.
Will had a pretty solid day with fastforword. In the Analogy exercise, he did very well with the grammar form questions, and especially did well with changing nouns into adjectives. He also did very well with the Features and Location analogies. In the letter sound exercise, he had trouble with the "ex" and "es" sounds, but did well with the short vowels. In reading comprehension, he's finally starting to adjust to the increased difficulty.
