We are continuing our lessons on the Constitution. The lesson plan in the Studies Weekly magazine outlines the three parts of the Constitution with all of the Articles and Amendments. I think a lot of these details are challenging for Anna and Quinn and it's not necessary that they learn all of that information right now. They learned the purpose of the three main parts of the Constitution: the Preamble, the Articles, and the Amendments. In order to make these ideas more concrete, I had them write laws or rights that they would include in their own constitution. They did a great job with this assignment. At the end of class, we learned what children their age dressed like in the 1700s and what kinds of games they played.
Sumdog: Student played competitive math games. Sumdog allows students to get on on games simultaneously and compete in fun math games. They had a great time and scored well on the competition. Great going Anna and Quinn.

Lesson Comments
Both Anna and Quinn had to be redirected several times today for not settling down, respecting other's space and good listening. However, I am seeing great improvement, especially in Quinn, with his ability and focus.

Anna- Identified proper nouns vs common nouns. Writing- found text evidence about the plot.
Quinn and Anna both took their spelling test and took a reading test. They did fantastic on both! I was so proud of them!
Anna- worked on IXL plural nouns
Quinn- raz-kids reading comp.
We read about a festival, and learned words to describe what is going on, like dance, sing, play guitar, music, etc. We also reviewed sentence punctuation.
Today Anna and Quinn began working on lesson 1-8. This lesson focused on making change. They each completed the lesson 1-8 problem of the day. Then we did examples on the board of subtracting money. For example, a piece of candy costs $0.89, you give a casher a $1 bill, how much change will you get back. Quinn had some difficulty with his subtraction skills when he had to barrow. We will continue practicing making change on Tuesday.
