Lesson 1-8
Lesson Outline
Today Anna and Quinn worked on lesson 1-8. This lesson focuses on making change. Anna and Quinn had to subtract the price of an item from the amount of money they gave the cashier. Then they had to determine what bills and coins they would receive back. Anna and Quinn both struggled with regrouping twice. For example, $5.00 - $2.43. Anna and Quinn did many practice problems on the board and have a much better grasp on that concept now. Anna and Quinn completed the lesson 1-8 daily spiral review and the guided practice. We will review all of the lessons on money tomorrow. The money test will be on Wednesday.

Lesson Outline
Today, I read Anna and Quinn a picture book that talked about the end of the Revolutionary War, the Articles of Confederation, and the need for a strong central government. Anna and Quinn stayed focused and asked great questions. After reading the book, they watched a BrainPOP video on James Madison, the "father of the Constitution". In the last ten minutes of class, Anna and Quinn played pick-up-sticks, a game that was popular among children in the 1700s. They had a great time.

Hooping; arms; Piggy Yoga poses; Moody Cow Book
Lesson Outline
We started off by writing down goals for October on the yoga charts for Anna and Quinn. Similar goals, i.e., listening, focus, respecting space. We then did hooping and contests with waist hooping. Then we added some more glitter glue to the meditation jars and read Moody Cow again. We also used the Piggy yoga book to practice cobra, dancer and lotus poses. I took pictures of Anna and Quinn doing lotus pose. The meditation jars worked well to calm and settle them down at the end of class.
