Hooping, DVD on hooping, hoop warms-ups and practice
Lesson Outline
Today's class focused on hooping. We watched a beginner's hooping DVD and went along with the warm-ups and practice. Both Anna and Quinn were very attentive and followed along with the DVD. I brought in 3 new hoops (different sizes) today, so they had the opportunity to practice arm hooping. The last 10 minutes were free play with the hoops. Quinn and Anna both enjoyed challenging themselves jumping through hoops that I held high.
We played hide and seek throughout the school with Anna and Quinn's stuffed animals. We took turns hiding them and looking for them. They practiced counting to 30, using "place" words (up, down, under etc.) and phrases (where is).
Choose a method to see if the sum of 2 three-digit numbers is enough to equal or exceed a given number. Understand that there is more than one way to estimate a sum. Rounding gives one way to estimate sums.
I presented a lesson about the Liberty Bell from its conception to the placement of it and its use. We will continue the story of the Liberty Bell on Tuesday.
Add three-digit number mentally without regrouping. Students will understood that there is more than one way to do a mental calculation. Techniques for doing addition or subtraction calculations mentally involve changing the numbers or the expression so calculation is easy to do mentally.
Activity ;finish the second part of the activity.
