Lesson Outline
Today Anna and Quinn made their own science vocabulary book. They began by cutting out the 10 vocabulary words used in chapter 2 and 10 definitions. Anna and Quinn then had to match the terms to their correct definition. They glued each word and its definition onto a page. The finished by drawing a picture that would help them remember the definition of each of their vocabulary terms. They can use this book to study for their chapter 2 vocab test on Monday.

Lesson Outline
Today Anna and Quinn worked on lesson 2-4. Lesson 2-4 focused on rounding 3 digit numbers to the tens and hundreds place. We began class by reviewing their homework and doing a quick review on the board. Anna and Quinn completed the lesson 2-4 practice worksheet. They both completed their independent practice questions with a perfect score. They also completed the lesson 2-4 daily spiral review.

field trip to exercise park, pond and playground
Lesson Outline
Since the weather was finally nice, we were able to go to the exercise park, pond and playground. I incorporated some lessons about Vitamin D, aerobic exercise (heart is a muscle) and relaxation with cloud imagery. We did warm-ups before the equipment, and Anna led us in the tree pose, standing next to a banyan tree. We saw several turtles, fish and ducks swimming in the pond. Anna identified the birds around us as Ibis (there were pictures of the varieties of birds at the gazebo). Anna and Quinn listened and followed directions well. Both received stickers today.

Lesson Outline
Today Anna and Quinn worked on lesson 2-3. This lesson focused on rounding to the tens place to add. Anna and Quinn split their time on Sumdog and working on the lesson with me. They learned if the number in the ones place was 4 or lesson the number in the tens place stays the same. If the number in the ones place is 5 or more the number in the tens place goes up one! Today we used 2-digit numbers, tomorrow we will round to the tens place in a 3-digit number. Anna and Quinn answered many questions on the board!

Hispanic Heritage: We had a good time reading and discussing Hispanic Heritage, Anna And Quinn listed what they know about Hispanic people. We read articles and named the countries that are Spanish speaking countries. Great Job kids it was fun.

Lesson Outline
Today Anna and Quinn mapped out their city. They sketched out where the roads, sidewalks, park, pumpkin patch and buildings will be placed. Quinn mixed together red and yellow clay to create an orange clay that he sculpted pumpkins out of. Anna cut up raffia to create hay for the pumpkin patch. We went outside to find small sticks to use for pumpkin stems and also made rubbings of the street and sidewalk that will be collaged into the city.

Today Anna and Quinn continued working on lesson 2-2. Lesson 2-2 focused on using a hundreds chart to add two 2-digit numbers together. Today's lesson focused on comparing two addition problems. Anna and Quinn had to use the hundreds chart to add the 2 numbers and then compare the answers of the 2 equations. For example, 23 +50 < 23 +65. The completed the 2-2 guided practice.

"Fall yoga"; yoga flash cards; new pose: camel
Lesson Outline
Our yoga class focused on Fall theme, i.e. pumpkin rolling, scarecrow; etc. We also practiced some of Quinn and Anna's favorite poses: bow, alligator, cobra, leg stretches. We then used our yoga flash cards to do different poses. One card was a relaxation technique thinking of a floating cloud. Anna and Quinn both earned stickers today, as they listened very well and focused on their yoga poses and movements.
