We worked on the research for his paper and discussion on Dunkin' Donuts Opening Stores in Japan including using the Knoema World Bank database of economic data to look up the Knowledge Economy Index (KEI), the Education Index, the Knowledge Index, and the Knowledge Economy Rank for Japan, US, Germany, China. We also looked up the GDP and inflation rates for each country. We found a website that gave us the rank and per capita amount of coffee consumed in these countries.

We started his assignment for this week (the antiderivative and integration).

We talked about the possible ramifications of the election both domestically and internationally. We looked at the people who are potential nominees for cabinet positions and what their background tells us about the changes they will make. We talked about Trump's potential policies toward NATO, the national debt, the UN, and international trade based on what he said before, during, and after the election. We read and talked about an article entitled How Trump Will Affect Your Wallet, which discussed Trump's economic plan and its potential affects.

We completed his assignment for this week (curve sketching, optimization, etc)

We worked on his discussion about the European Union including trade agreements, merging economies, the effects of WWII and the Cold War, the East/West divide in Europe, the European Economic Community (EEC), the Greek debt problem, Brexit, etc.

We started with a sidebar on the 2016 elections and wondered how the pundits and the pollsters were so wide of the mark. We decided that the pundits were wrong because they believed the pollsters. We're not sure about the latter. We did some online exploration of the Peace Corps, William Dwyer and Jupiter high schools with attention to their various academies. We also looked at "computer science".

We discussed concepts from the chapter on Political Economy of Trade including why governments intervene in trade, instruments of trade promotion, instruments of trade restriction, and the global trading system.
