Brandon had a major research paper due this week, so we spent our time devising an outline and finding appropriate passages from the class readings to corroborate his research topic. While we have a good idea of where to go, the teacher's essay topic was written in a very cryptic way (many questions asked, but no particular task mentioned). We had to spend some time interpreting the task at hand. We have some nice things to go on, and Brandon will begin writing tomorrow.
We worked through the questions for this week on accounting and financial planning. Brandon is moving through the material very easily, but I'm not sure how much information he is retaining and if he will be ready to take a final exam. But apparently he had this professor before and is not concerned.
Brandon has an exceptionally difficult time picking and article to write about. I gave him multiple suggestions, and he was supposed to have one picked by today, but still spent 1-15 minutes reaching a decision. We didn't finish but he should be able to get it done no problem.
Brandon did a solid job on the weekly quiz, and then finished up the discussion post from yesterday. We came up with some interesting marketing idea for exercise equipment that I thought was pretty interesting.
Today we wrote the discussion post about marketing and pricing for a product sold exclusively online. Interestingly, Brandon spent the most time trying to decide what would be the best product. He's gotten into a comfortable pattern of doing the bare minimum. I keep trying to push him to do more, but he keeps getting A's.
Brandon worked on creating an outline for his computers assignment, which asked him to suggest a web browser for a small community center. Brandon chose to discuss Google Chrome and FireFox, and we did substantial research to help him formulate an outline. He had all of his points written down, and all he needed to do was go home and write everything down. He was assigned this for homework.
Brandon began writing his discussion post for Civ., and he used his outline to guide his work. The discussion post was difficult (what forces were responsible for the scientific revolution?), and there were many readings to draw from. It took the length of the class, but Brandon was able to finish everything for the post.
Brandon and I read through the week's Civ. assignments and wrote an outline for things we thought were applicable to his discussion post. He formulated a good outline that will help him to write the post. In addition, Brandon completed his Computers quiz which was based on the reading. A lot to do, but we are hammering through the assignments.
Brandon highlighted this week's assignments on the board, starting with his ITC (computer) course, which began his week, and ending with his Civilization course. We have a lot to do this week, as several assignments from both class must be completed by Thursday. Brandon posted his introduction to his Computers class and we started reading for his Civ. post. We read several chapters for his computer class as well.
- weekly assignments for Chapters 15-16
-review lecture notes
- discussion post
We got through the information for the two chapters pretty quickly. A lot of the material crosses over with his marketing class, so he's having very little trouble with it. We got through the homework assignments and started working on the discussion post.
