Michael and I went through two more practice sessions in Math Mavericks Modern Math today. I assigned a section of review in chapter 1 and for him to review the Chapter 2 sections we've covered so far as well.

I don't think that Michael is spending his time here on math review. He appears to be watching music videos on his laptop. I asked him today if he would keep track of the assigned work he does so that we have something tangible to refer to. I hope this will encourage him to take it more seriously.
Michael and I spent the lesson going over the assigned review problems that he'd had trouble with. We also spent some time reviewing basic operation sign rules. Michael plans to continue working similar problems over the weekend, and reviewing the other chapter 2 practice and tutorials we covered this week.
Today we worked on more complex integration problems requiring 'u' and 'du' substitution. We were able to review all of the topics that were covered in his most recent lecture.
Today, Michael and I finished up the tutorials in the first section of Chapter 2, and made it through 3 of the Practice assignments. We reviewed some solving strategies and I assigned practice problems for that as well as the Math Mavericks Chapter 1 review.
Pablo and I reviewed his last test and worked on an extra-credit assignment. We also went through his most recent lecture notes on integration. I explained the inverse relationship between differentiation and integration, and drew a parallel to factoring and multiplying polynomials, making the point that it is easy to check your answers by applying the reverse operation.

Pablo is doing great. He always gets an 'A' or a 'B' on all his tests and quizzes, and the instructor provides extra-credit opportunities to improve the scores, so it looks like he may earn an 'A' in the course. He says he is enjoying calculus too.
We continued working through the Set Builder Notation tutorial. We did finish it, but that is all we were able to complete because there was a lot of background supplementary instruction required in order for him to understand it. I assigned some review from the previous chapter, and also some exercises from an Algebra 1 text book to review the solving strategies we covered in our first week of sessions.
