Brandon wrote the majority of his essay during our 90 minute session. Overall, I encouraged Brandon to be descriptive and direct in his explanation of the reasons Mr. Andrade, Judie, and Steve Jobs have helped to shape him into the person that he is today.
Brandon chose the topic that he will write on for this week's essay: "Who are the three people who have made you who you are today?" Brandon chose to write about this grandfather, Judie Batt-Yarnell, and Steve Jobs. After we outlined this essay, Brandon finished his secondary posts on the discussion board.
Brandon worked on two of his primary discussions posts. The first one asked Brandon to address the role that writing plays in aiding/disabling inmates. Brandon responded that writing helps one to center themselves in a healthy way, saying that it affirms an inmate's voice and perspective.
Brandon completed the Reading, Listening, and Viewing section in the Week 2 Course Materials section of his College Composition course. We spent some time listening to this week's talk of prison inmates, reading the corresponding documents as we went through the material.
Brandon finished up his paper about his 3 most influential people. Writing is getting much easier for him. He doesn't ask for nearly as much help and seems to breeze through his concepts pretty easily.
Brandon seems to be very comfortable with this material of this class. He finished his 6 discussion posts for the week, and should be in good shape for the future test, which we're not sure when it is.
Brandon worked on his key word vocab cards, and is in good shape for a future text. We went through the reading material, and the crafted some solid discussion posts. He still has to write three more this week, but we should be able to get that done tomorrow, giving him time to work on his paper.
Brandon was finished with his communication work for the week, so he spent the session finishing up his math and his personal narrative for his writing class. He had a little trouble finishing up the paper, but we were able to get it done.
Brandon and I spent the majority of our class re-reading the narrative essay assignments and formulating a plan-of-action. Once Brandon started writing, though, he was on a roll, completing over 3 pages by the time our session was over.
