Today, Sam and I looked over his first draft of the poem assignment due in English Literature. Sam needed some extra help with his introduction and its flow of ideas, as some of its contents were flowing in opposite directions than his thesis statement. Additionally, I helped Sam to break down some of the larger images that he incorporated into his essay. Once we were finished cleaning up his draft, we read through a hard copy of his essay and addressed any grammatical concerns.
I helped Sammie with the rest of his poetry outline, focusing on ways that we can support his thesis with specific instances from the text. After analyzing "Skunk Hour," we continued to look at Sylvia Plath's "Daddy," noting the ways that each author deals with the theme of isolation. Samiie had a nice outline when we finished this evening.
Brandon and I finished and then submitted his Argument paper for English, making sure that all of the feedback from his first draft was addressed and that there were no mistakes left.
I helped Sam with reading and understanding the poem "Skunk Hill." For this assignment, Sam needed to articulate the poem's theme and the images that support that theme. I helped Sam to under the work better so that we could get to this point.
Sadie and I worked on augmenting her paper for college english. For the most part, Sadie needed some assistance glueing her ideas together: she includes pieces of evidence without context and/or places the wrong piece of evidence to support unrelated points. This is something that Sadie will have to gain an impulse for over time.
