Brandon was still looking for articles about the causes of Prohibition. Rather than wasting time, I found him multiple sites not from the Northeastern Server so he could move ahead with the writing. He worked on his discussion posts in the second hour.

Brandon was able to complete his introduction and first body paragraph for the Cause and Effect paper due in College Composition. In total, Brandon was able to get about 2 of the 5 required pages due on Sunday, 10/27. This process has been a bit labored because Brandon continues to lose the research that we obtain in previous sessions.

Brandon took his Algebra mid-term and I think he did very well. He only missed two out of 35 questions, which I said was fantastic, but he of course was disappointed.

work on cause and effect paper

We worked on Brandon's paper about the cause and effect of Prohibition. He was very tired and reluctant to work. But he did get started with a pretty solid introductory paragraph. I think he needs to work on his thesis statement, but otherwise solid. We researched Al Capone and Prohibition and talked about the importance of using his time wisely in preparation for starting history next week.

Brandon conducted research on the topic of Prohibition, looking for articles and/or books to help him gauge where he wanted to take this topic. After creating a thought-map, Brandon settled on the topic of crime during the Prohibition era. Once he had a topic, we worked on a tentative outline, discussing quips and/or road bumps along the way. At the end of our day, Brandon began work on a tentative introduction.

Cause and Effect Pre-Writing and Introduction
Lesson Outline
Brandon was able to complete the Week 7 Pre-Writing assignment due Sunday of next week. To do this, we created an outline for his Cause and Effect paper, making sure that his claim/thesis was substantiated with research on the Prohibition era. When his thesis was proved, we narrowed his focus on Prohibition and crime, arguing that making alcohol illegal created more crime. Brandon corrected his thesis to reflect this new focus.
