Tristan enjoyed playing online academic games both independently and with another student. Focus was on reading comprehension, graphing, time and word problems.
This afternoon, Richard honed his math skills and worked on developing and practicing new strategies in Prodigy Math on the computer. He is quite adept and proficient at using technology and discovered that the computer in the library was a touch screen. Richard was tasked on questions using a number line and had to identify numbers on it and determine which was the least and the greatest. Richard performed well on this
task. He enthusiastically accepted challenges, and put his best effort forth to perform in accordance with directives and expectations.

Lesson Comments
I subbed for the OT, Willow, this afternoon with Richard, from 12:30 - 1:30 for one hour.
At the onset of our lesson this afternoon, Mercer asked if he could show me his score on the SSAT. He was disappointed he did not do better. We discussed the test and looked up some information about it. Mercer is hoping he will get another chance to take it to improve his score. We then went on the computer in the library and Mercer introduced me to a new academic game. It involved a puzzle activity made by the producer of other color activities named, Yellow, Red, Black, Blue and Green, which Mercer said he's already mastered. I watched as Mercer attempted to solve the puzzles using different strategies without requesting clues. Mercer was able to explain the objective of the puzzles and demonstrated good critical thinking skills in his efforts to solve them, many of which involved complex visual-spatial and perceptual challenges.

I was asked to sub for Kevin with Mercer this afternoon, from 12:30 - 1:30. He asked me to also sub for him in the morning, but I believe someone else had been assigned or had been originally scheduled. He specifically asked not to do music. He said he does not like the class so we shifted gears. I wanted today to result in greater success and a more positive outcome than did yesterday.
fine motor coordination, following directions, money concepts
Lesson Outline
Richard enjoyed playing an online cooking game that required fine motor coordination and following directions. He concentrated on having steady movements and balance while playing 'Jenga'. We used plastic coins and paper money to 'buy' items in a game of store.
Matthew and I spent our session with 'Game Day', playing 'Guess Who?' with Kellan. This allowed for Matthew and Kellan to practice following directions, problem solving, and following directions.

Following multi-step directives teamed with a peer in cooperative academic games
Lesson Outline
Jayne worked well with a peer in the last half hour of today's session. She and the other student were asked to choose from an array of academic games and agreed to learn one. They were apprised of the basic premise and objective of the game, and worked well together, reviewing the basic rules, scoring, and taking turns. Both were amenable to suggestions and championed the other's successes. It was a fun and productive way to end the day in a competitive yet collaborative spirit.
