We checked Brogan's homework which was completed correctly except that several mixed numbers could be further reduced. We discussed this and the homework assignment for today will reinforce that skill. Brogan completed a converting mixed numbers "riddle" page. She also completed an Improper Fraction Drawing page and a word problem fraction page from Envision MATH.

Reducing Improper fractions to the simplest form for homework
We checked homework which was accurate including 3 Improper fractions Brogan changed to mixed numbers. We worked on the steps involved to convert Improper fractions to Mixed numbers, using a wipe off sheet to show the work for problems on page 63 of Envision MATH. We then worked on the steps to convert Mixed numbers to Improper fractions using similar materials. Page 63 was completed accurately including word problems and explaining her work.
Spelling - test
Grammar - proofread paragraph, rewrite in cursive after corrections are made…review capitalization and punctuation.
Dictation - read paragraph from "Robinson Crusoe" …read/correct.
Today we reviewed the introduction " Hi, my name is... We went over greetings and farewells, and voiceless sounds of t,r,s,and e at the end of the words. We learned numbers from 1-10 and made flashcards which will help us remember them. Brogan has homework for next week on numbers from 1-10.
We checked Brogan's fraction homework, then discussed multiplication facts. Brogan added a page to her Waldorf MATH book on reducing fractions. She showed the steps in an example, then illustrated it. Using a whiteboard I introduced Improper fractions and their corresponding mixed numbers. We completed page 62 in Envision Math using the whiteboard to work through the problems. Brogan is beginning to grasp the concept. We will continue tomorrow.

We reviewed last week's lesson outline. This included identifying letters, note location, and practicing C major. We finished by practicing the first line of the song "Wild Ponies".

Today, we began by reviewing the German alphabet. Next, we reviewed greetings and Brogan completed an assignment that required her to practice saying hello and making introductions. Next, we reviewed the days of the week and the colors.
Grammar - complete the handout - combine two short sentences using conjunctions.
Reading - introduce the new story "Robinson Crusoe" - a story of survival - go over vocabulary, then read/discuss the story...question to check for understanding.
spelling - remind Brogan that the test is tomorrow.

Brogan wanted to look up interesting facts about California, so we went online and found the top 25 most interesting places - not the usual tourist attractions. We read about/discussed the various attractions. We also found pictures of the state flag, bird, song, etc.
Multiplication/Division Facts and Fractions in Simplest Form
Lesson Outline
Reviewed Multiplication facts with cards and student "bracelets" and separated the challenging facts. Brogan played Tic, Tac Toe with teacher, covering correct multiplication facts. Brogan then completed a 50 problem Division page, 6 facts were not automatic - we will continue to work on those. Finally, Brogan completed the reducing fraction page started last session. She worked independently to reduce the fractions, many multi step. Homework was assigned.
