Brogan is a hard worker...eager to learn. I so enjoy our time together.
Today was our first French class. We colored the map of France and learned about its land and sea frontiers. Also, we learned about the history of the language and how it has evolved to become the language we speak today. We went over the 4 different French accents and ç. Lastly, we did a short introduction and a drawing about Brogan " Hello, my name is Brogan." We briefly mentioned that final r and e are voiceless and practiced the r pronunciation.
Reducing Fractions to Simplest Form and reinforce Multiplication Facts
Lesson Outline
We checked Brogan's homework assignments on reducing fractions and multiplication facts. We used flash cards to check fact knowledge and set aside the cards that need continued practice. I introduced multiplication bracelets for Brogan to work with at home. She will set aside the facts that she needs to work with. Brogan played a full game of multiplication BINGO for a fun way to review facts. Homework is to cut, review and practice using the multiplication bracelets.
We checked Brogan's fraction homework. We discussed how important multiplication is to reducing fractions. Brogan completed a mixed multiplication fact page. As I observed we identified 8,9,7 and 6 as facts needing practice. Brogan agrees. We will address with games and activities. Brogan completed a WORD problem of the Day. This involved reading, solving by reducing, comparing, then drawing and writing. She also completed page 57 of EnvisionMATH.

Lesson Comments
Brogan is very smart and cooperative. I really enjoy working with her.
Brogan's class is learning about California, specifically, Sonoma City. We read about the history of the state and Sonoma City. After that, she decided she wanted to focus on the Gold Rush in the 1800s…we read about that from the point of view of one of the miners at the time. She found that interesting and exciting.
Ater meeting and welcoming Brogan I encouraged Brogan to share her work in her Waldorf MATH book. We then worked on learning to reduce fraction through use of a Flowchart which was well received. We completed 4 examples together. Then Brogan completed practice page 50 from the ENVISIONMath book at Batt. We checked all answers together, discussing "why" we reduce fractions! Brogan asked for homework which was provided.
Assignment
