1)Discuss the major events of Tess pgs. 245-278
2)Describe the change that Alec Durberville has undergone. Do you believe that he has truly converted to Christianity? How does he react when Tess has refused him a second time? Describe Tess's comments on how Angel does not believe in religion, and that she, therefore, does not believe in the supernatural. How would you characterize Tess's beliefs? Is Angel her God?
3) Jessica presents her revision of her Honors College essay and we edit/revise her work together.

2) Symbols exercise: Define symbols. Have Jessica identify several symbols from our reading of Tess (birds, the horse, the tomb of the forefathers, etc.).
