I subbed for Jennifer today. Will read a couple of sections from the chapter on the French Revolution, and then we talked about what he had read. We then watched a history channel video about the events that led up the revolution and the ultimate results.
Will needs to work on his sentence structure and punctuation skills, so we are taking the next couple of weeks to focus on that. We spent today going over different types of sentences and the rules for commas. In essence, I'm giving him the ACT grammar prep course with extra information.
Will had his paper finished and ready to hand in today. For the most part, I am very pleased with his efforts. He hasn't written a lot of papers, but he followed instructions and his outline very well. He came up with some really interesting ideas, and actually had a few really powerful and well-written lines. Like most 10th graders, his weakness is not fully developing his ideas. If he had taken the time to expand on his points, (use multiple paragraphs) it would have been an excellent paper. Nonetheless, I'm very pleased with his effort and how well he's handled Hamelt. Great work!!
