What would it be like to be a dolphin
This was an extra class on her last day at the school. We worked on her Candyland project and shared stories about dolphins and other marine creatures. As always she had lots of questions and fantasies about what it would be like to be a dolphin. I indulged her musings and we laughed at what a dolphin would do with Zoey, her new puppy. This was a nice way to say goodbye.

The Dolphin Project - The body systems test
As Marina finished her dolphin anatomy book by placing dolphin pictures opposite each body system, I administered an oral test on each of the systems we had examined. She was tasked with naming the main organ of each system, and some of the associated structures.

The Dolphin Project - the reproductive system
Marina drew her dolphin outline, and we filled in parts of the female reproductive system. She labeled the ovaries and the uterus, while we discussed how an egg is produced in the one and moves to the other, through the fallopian tubes. She drew pictures of how people can tell the difference between a female and male dolphin. We compared the dolphin structures with those in the Gray’s anatomy coloring book.

The Dolphin Project - the social system
Marina and I discussed how dolphins live in populations distributed all over the world oceans. Within each population, dolphin families live in neighborhoods, much like our own. Each dolphin has a strong a attachment with their family members, and with certain friends they make as they grow up. Young dolphins make friends in school and these friendships last a lifetime. We talked about how it seems that dolphins and people have a lot in common.
We worked on extending breathing duration, sang a number of songs and had her present a song to me at at distance for projection practice.
I gather this was my last lesson with Marina. It has been a great pleasure and an amazing amount of fun to work with her. She's a fireball of energy and I enjoyed it greatly. hopefully, she will continue to work on her breathing techniques and I will look forward to seeing her on the stage sometime soon.
