Summer Book
Lesson Outline
Today, Marina watched the Studies Weekly program on "Summer Vacation," since it was her very last session of the year. It called for a Summer Vacation Booklet, which she made using pictures she printed, cut, and pasted. She added sentences, and we edited them a bit, making sure the I's were capitalized, and summer was spelled correctly. She enjoyed the project. Have a great summer break, Marina!

Consonant-le words
Lesson Outline
Today Marina worked on finding consonant-le syllable words. Marina began with her word sort to find words with this syllable type. Then she found these words in magazines. Marina found that it was a lot easier to find vowel-le syllable words. She often caught herself before cutting out that syllable type. Marina found quite a few words consonant-le syllable words to add to her folder.

Multiplication, addition, place value
Lesson Outline
Today Marina and I began by playing a multiplication game. Then Marina and I continued working on place value up to the hundred thousands place. Marina and I practiced saying the correct number using her mat and dice. Then we worked on expanded form of these 6 digit numbers. When there was a hole (such as no thousands) it was very tricky for Marina. We completed 2 practice worksheets together. We will continue working a little more on this skill tomorrow. Marina also practiced her multiplication skills while playing Yahtzee. Marina had to multiply her dice of the same value. for example, rolling four 3's, 3X4=12. This also required Marina to add up her final scores. Great work today Marina!

6's / place value/ basic facts
Lesson Outline
Today Marina began by making multiplication flashcards for her 6 facts. Marina and I then made a place value board for numbers up to the hundred thousands place. Marina also asked about the 2 periods (ones & thousands) and how we put a comma after every period. Marina and I used this board to write numbers in standard, expanded and written form. Earlier in the year we worked on place value up to the hundreds place. Marina and I completed 2 worksheets together. Marina will continue working on this concept tomorrow. At the end of class we played fast math in the dojo, reviewing her addition, subtraction and multiplication facts. Great work today Marina!

Open Syllables
Lesson Outline
Today Marina continued her end of the year Wilson project! Today she made a folder for open syllable words. These words end with a vowel and are the only vowel in the word. The vowel also had to say its name (long vowel sound). These words were a lot more challenging for Marina to locate in her magazines, than the previous syllable types.
