Arianna began with a spiral review on division word problems, finding equivalent fractions, matching models to number sentences, basic fractions, and 2-part multiplication word problems. Then, we reviewed equivalent fractions and how to use multiplication or division to name the same part of a whole. Arianna found missing numbers to make two fractions equivalent, multiplied or divided to find equivalent fractions, and wrote pairs of equivalent fractions to match models.
Arianna continued to work on the animal behavior project. She compiled information on current threats to foxes and will begin working on the second animal of the project, the coral snake during our next session.
Arianna started a unit on Florida. She will be reading “The Adventures of Charles Pierce; The Last Egret” by Harvey Oyer III. We read 2 chapters and she summarized them.
Arianna continued her work with parts of speech and compound sentences. She practiced vocabulary from the upcoming chapter in Harry Potter. Today’s reading brought a few surprises and a new problem for a Harry. Arianna’s predictions as she read were very accurate and she provided support from the text for each of them.
Arianna, another student, and I played various games both inside and outside. A really fun activity was practicing some jump rope because she said she had never really tried it before! I was excited to see her give it a try, and she got a few consistent jumps!

Lesson Comments
I've noticed she doesn't really like too much physical activity, especially something that seems challenging or she hasn't done before. - Makes sense :) I was happy to see her try jump rope even though she was with Zeta who is a natural at it! We were able to compare it to dance for her and help her get a rhythm with the jumps.
Arianna completed two more sections of the animal behavior PowerPoint today: red fox behavior and threats. We will complete the coral snake sections of the PowerPoint next week.
Today's lesson focused on equivalent fractions and how the same fractional amount can be named in different ways. Arianna used her fraction strips to find equivalent fractions, division to find the simplest form of fractions, or multiplication to find different equivalent fractions. We also practiced finding the least common multiple of two different fractions by finding the multiples the denominators.
